The Criteria

The following 7 criteria were used to evaluate the stores. For each, the store with the best overall review score was awarded 100% with all other stores provided a relative score.

Price
To assist in the evaluation of pricing 10 Random Sample Baskets (RSBs) each containing 50 items of commonly sought minifigures, parts and accessories were formulated for price comparison. The results of this was combined with the results from the surveyed community which also included pricing for sets. A 60:40 weighting to these results were applied.

Shipping
The cost to ship the RSBs to a domestic and international destination was scored for each order. The results of this was combined with the results from the surveyed community which also included shipping pricing for sets. A 60:40 weighting to these results were applied.

LEGO Inventory
The inventories of each store was assessed on the range of Official LEGO parts, figures and sets on offer. Additional marks were awarded to stores that also offered exclusive or hard-to-find items.

Other Brand Inventory
The inventories of each store was assessed on the range of LEGO-compatible Other Brands (SI-BAN, Megabloks) and Unofficial LEGO (eg BrickArms, Brickforge) parts, figures and sets on offer.

Delivery
The speed of order processing once order was placed and the delivery of orders to international and domestic addresses was measured for sample orders across all stores. The results of these were combined with the results from the surveyed community. A 40:60 weighting to these result sources were applied.

Customer Service
Where issues with an order arose, eg missing part(s), stores were measured on their response and speed of response to the reported issue. These results were gathered from the surveyed community.

Usability
Stores were assessed on their web interface and user-friendliness by a team of web designers. Ease of use and website functionality, including checkout mechanism, product description and information availability were evaluated.
